Job summary

Essex Property Trust in Irvine is seeking a Senior Payroll Analyst to provide expert analysis, configure enhancements, and support payroll and absence management in Workday.

You will work with cross-functional HR and Accounting teams to ensure US payroll compliance, back up bi-weekly processing, and maintain SOX controls while delivering accurate tax reporting and year-end statements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience in a related field.
• 5+ years of progressive payroll experience including hands-on payroll systems administration and processing.
• In-depth knowledge of payroll regulations with multi-state/local expertise.
• Experience with Workday components: Payroll, Absence Management, Time Tracking, OSV Atmosphere.
• Strong MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint); mid-level Excel skills including VLOOKUPs and Pivot Tables.

Responsibilities

• Maintain Workday Payroll and absence management settings to align with policies and compliance.
• Stay updated on state and federal payroll regulations; perform regular audits for data accuracy.
• Generate and analyze payroll reports; identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
• Provide training and guidance on Workday payroll functionality; create and maintain rollout documentation.
• Lead bi-annual Workday Payroll and Absence feature release testing and documentation.
