About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Benefits Specialist to join our team and take ownership of our employee benefits programs. This role is responsible for administering and supporting a wide range of benefits for thousands of employees nationwide. You'll work closely with HR, payroll, and third-party vendors to ensure seamless delivery and communication of our total rewards offerings.
Key Responsibilities:
- Administer and manage employee benefits programs including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability, HSA, FSA, and more.
- Coordinate leaves of absence (LOAs), including FMLA, ADA, parental leave, and other statutory/non-statutory programs.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for benefits-related inquiries from employees, escalating complex cases as needed.
- Collaborate with brokers, carriers, and third-party administrators to ensure plan compliance and resolve issues.
- Support open enrollment activities including system setup, communication campaigns, and employee education sessions.
- Maintain and audit benefits data across HRIS and carrier platforms; ensure accuracy in deductions and enrollments.
- Assist with benefits reporting, benchmarking, and cost analyses for decision-making and renewals.
- Stay current on federal, state, and local laws impacting benefits administration (e.g., ACA, HIPAA, COBRA, ERISA).
Qualifications:
- 3–5+ years of experience administering employee benefits for large organizations (1,000+ employees preferred).
- Solid understanding of health and welfare benefit plans, including HSA/FSA, life/disability, and LOAs.
- Experience with benefits systems, HRIS platforms, and working with third-party vendors/carriers.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Detail-oriented with a strong sense of confidentiality and compliance.
- CEBS, SHRM-CP, or PHR certification a plus.
