Westat, a leader in research and evaluation, seeks a Principal Research Associate in our Bethesda, MD office to advance behavioral health studies and policy-focused technical assistance for federal clients.

You will lead multi-disciplinary teams, manage complex evaluations, and contribute to business development through high-quality reports and strategic deliverables for policymakers and providers.

Qualifikationen

• Master’s degree with 8+ years of relevant experience or PhD with 5+ years postdoc.
• Experience working with SAMHSA.
• Experience leading large-scale evaluations and applied research in behavioral health.
• Experience independently managing federal SAMHSA contracts and client relationships.
• Experience as lead author or senior reviewer of technical reports and policy analyses.
• Experience leading qualitative, quantitative, and mixed-methods evaluations.
• Experience managing multidisciplinary teams and mentoring staff.
• Experience identifying business opportunities and leading proposals.
• Experience using Microsoft Office to prepare reports and presentations.

Aufgaben

• Independently lead large-scale behavioral health research, evaluation, and training projects.
• Oversee all phases: study design, data collection/management/analysis, reporting.
• Serve as senior advisor on behavioral health research and policy issues.
• Ensure quality control of all project deliverables before submission.
• Lead and mentor staff; supervise subcontractors and partners.
• Manage federal client relationships and lead client meetings and discussions.
• Lead qualitative, quantitative, and mixed-methods evaluations and interpret findings.
• Lead business development and proposals, including staffing plans and budgets.
