Job summary

Apple Inc. in Cupertino, California, seeks a mechanical engineer to design battery packs for consumer electronics.

You will perform 3D modeling and tolerance analysis for assembly, evaluate manufacturability, and develop designs from concept through production. Responsibilities include creating detailed drawings, tooling evaluation, fixture design, troubleshooting fabrication issues, and conducting design-of-experiments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design or related field with 5 years of post-baccalaureate experience.
• Experience conducting design reviews to realize cross-functional design.
• Experience designing multiple component assemblies to realize product requirements including tolerance analysis.
• Experience with 3D Modeling (CATIA, Pro/E, NX, or SolidWorks).
• Experience supporting design from product manufacture to assembly including DOEs.
• Experience driving Failure Analysis and Root Cause Investigation with corrective actions.
• Experience completing detailed drawings to ensure communication and compliance of parts to design intent.
• Experience implementing mechanical design concepts through all development phases.

Responsibilities

• Plan and design battery packs for consumer electronics.
• Utilize 3D modeling and tolerance analysis for assembly design.
• Evaluate manufacturability and review tooling and build data to ensure design is manufacturable.
• Create detailed drawings and evaluate fixtures for manufacturability.
• Troubleshoot fixture, design, fabrication, and reliability issues.
• Design experiments and perform design validation by performance analysis.
