Job summary

General Motors is seeking a Senior Electrochemical Process Engineer to join the Advanced Cell Process Team. You will design scalable battery cell formation processes at the GM Wallace Battery Cell Innovation Center and collaborate with R&D, Product Engineering, and Manufacturing to enable high-volume production.

You will lead formation technology development, mentor engineers, and coordinate with external partners.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Electrochemical Engineering or related field.
5+ years in process development for electrochemical systems.
3+ years hands-on with battery cell formation equipment and scripting.
3+ years leading teams on complex technical projects.
Experience with statistical analysis tools (Minitab, JMP, Q-Das).
Familiarity with production manufacturing concepts and GD&T.

Responsibilities

Lead development activities focused on battery cell formation processes and performance.
Collaborate with Product Engineering to ensure manufacturability of designs.
Interface with R&D on advanced chemistries and high-volume feasibility.
Develop in-house formation processes and tooling for quality and throughput.
Identify and implement innovative formation technologies to boost efficiency.
Support formation equipment hardware and software troubleshooting.
Communicate progress and risks to leadership and stakeholders.
Mentor engineers and share best practices across teams.
Travel 10-15% to support external partners.
