Job summary

Dechert LLP in New York, NY seeks a Senior Paralegal to provide sophisticated litigation and transactional support across bankruptcy matters. The role requires organizing case dockets, calendars, filing deadlines, and coordinating with clients, financial advisors, and co-counsel.

You will assist with pre-petition planning, drafting or reviewing first-day orders, and managing pleadings and hearings in Chapter 11 matters.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree is required; a Paralegal Certificate is a plus.
• Minimum of 3 years of paralegal experience in a bankruptcy practice at a law firm, with hands-on Chapter 11 work.
• Ability to work independently with minimal direction.
• Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
• Superior proofreading and research skills.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and maintain case dockets in PACER and firm systems; track filing deadlines and hearing dates.
• Prepare and maintain master case calendars and deadline trackers for active matters.
• Coordinate with claims and noticing agents on service of process and bar dates.
• Draft, format, and review bankruptcy pleadings, motions, and related documents.
• File documents electronically via CM/ECF and ensure compliance with local rules.
• Prepare hearing binders, exhibit lists, and witness materials.
• Assist with pre-petition planning and first-day pleadings and orders.
• Support plan of reorganization and disclosure statement drafting and review.
• Coordinate with clients and advisors for petition filings and post-closing deliverables.
• Mentor junior paralegals and colleagues on procedural matters.
