Job summary

Cherokee Federal is seeking a Senior Ballistic Armor Acquisition & Test Engineer SME to support the NSWC PCD ATAE program. The role requires deep expertise in ballistic armor systems and lifecycle management including testing, qualification, and sustainment.

The candidate will lead technical evaluations, perform failure analyses, coordinate with government and labs, and contribute to PDs and MRCs. Active Secret clearance or ability to obtain one is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Textile Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related field.
• 7+ years of progressive experience in personal armor, PPE, or tactical life-support systems.
• Ballistic testing experience with soft and hard armor; FAT/LAT witness experience.
• Proven ability to author PDs, technical manuals, and MRCs.
• Must be a US citizen and able to obtain Secret clearance.

Responsibilities

• Review test documentation and assess plans and protocols against DoD specs and standards.
• Witness FAT/LAT at Aberdeen Test Center or certified labs.
• Analyze test results and summarize ballistic reports.
• Lead root-cause investigations and drive corrective actions.
• Advise on lab capabilities and select testing partners.
