Job summary

AM General seeks a senior engineer to lead multi-disciplinary engineering efforts for armored vehicle programs in Michigan. You will guide design, development, production, and testing, while coordinating cross-functional teams to meet customer specs and schedules.

Ideal candidates bring 15+ years of defense vehicle experience, armor integration know-how, and familiarity with military standards; travel up to 30% may be required.

Qualifications

• BSME/BSEE or equivalent engineering degree.
• 15+ years engineering experience, preferably in military vehicles.
• Hands-on armor integration into vehicle bodies.
• Familiarity with military specs and standards.
• Experience with ballistic and blast testing.
• EMI/EMC knowledge is a plus.
• Knowledge of GD&T and MS Office tools.

Responsibilities

• Lead engineering activities across design, development, production, and testing.
• Direct cross-functional teams during product development and planning.
• Define reviews, risk strategies, and verification for vehicle systems.
• Oversee project management, schedules, and budget adherence.
• Coordinate validation and prototype testing with suppliers and customers.
• Ensure interpretation of requirements and proper documentation of issues.
