Venmo, a PayPal service, is seeking a Staff/Senior Software Engineer (Backend Python) in San Jose to lead backend platform initiatives. You will mentor engineers, own critical services, and work within a high-scale payments environment on distributed systems.

Qualifications

• 5+ years with Python or equivalent high-level language
• Experience with distributed backend services
• Experience with cloud-based infrastructure (AWS) and IaC (Terraform)
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to design reviews
• Proficient with relational and NoSQL data stores (RDBMS/NoSQL) and caching
• Understand runtime environment concepts (Linux, Python runtime) and performance implications
