Job summary

Venmo is seeking a Backend Engineer for the Identity Engineering team to build secure, scalable authentication and authorization services for millions of users. You will write clean, efficient code, collaborate with experienced engineers, and contribute to high-performance systems that earn customer trust.

Qualifications

• 3+ years relevant experience and a Bachelor’s degree OR Any equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Strong foundation in programming concepts and data structures.
• Experience with backend development using Python and frameworks such as Django or Flask.
• Understanding of web services and SOA principles.
• Exposure to version control systems (Git) and collaborative development workflows.

Responsibilities

• Delivers complete solutions spanning all phases of the SDLC (design, implementation, testing, delivery and operations).
• Advises immediate management on project-level issues.
• Guides junior engineers.
• Operates with minimal supervision and makes technical decisions following internal conventions.
