Job summary

PayPal’s Venmo CFS team seeks a senior software engineer to own backend platform features, drive cross‑team initiatives, and set standards for authentication and security at scale. You will mentor engineers, coordinate with product management, and shape architecture across services in a fast‑growing payments ecosystem.

You will work with AWS, Terraform, and modern security practices to deliver reliable, compliant systems while aligning with PayPal’s platform and security teams.

Qualifications

• 8+ years relevant software engineering experience and a Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
• 12+ years backend platforms, authentication, or security‑critical systems at scale.
• Deep expertise in Python and API management including OAuth 2.0, OIDC, SAML, WebAuthn.

Responsibilities

• Make technical decisions affecting multiple teams across the organization.
• Establish conventions and processes followed by other employees.
• Lead multi‑team initiatives and prioritize among many issues.
• Apply up‑to‑date industry practices and explain tech tradeoffs to non‑technical audiences.
• Partner with product management to ideate solutions to business problems.
