Job summary

Insight Global is seeking an experienced Java software engineer to backfill an essential portfolio of production-grade applications. You will maintain and enhance existing services, troubleshoot production issues, and implement bug fixes while building SOAP and REST-based interfaces.

Collaborate with fellow engineers on support and modernization initiatives, and leverage AI-assisted tools like GitHub Copilot to improve productivity and delivery.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, ideally at the Senior level.
• Strong Java development experience with Java 8 and Java 17.
• Experience building applications with Spring Boot.
• Proficiency with JBoss, Tomcat, and Enterprise Java technologies (EJBs).
• Experience designing, developing, and deploying SOAP and RESTful web services.
• Hibernate experience.
• Strong focus on unit testing, code quality, and technical documentation.
• Experience leveraging AI-assisted development tools, such as GitHub Copilot.
• Experience with JSF or JSP.
• Hands-on experience with PrimeFaces component libraries.

This resource will serve as a backfill supporting a portfolio of existing business-critical Java applications. The majority of the work will focus on maintaining and enhancing current applications, troubleshooting production issues, implementing bug fixes, and supporting ongoing application enhancements. The developer will be responsible for building and maintaining SOAP and REST-based services, collaborating closely with other engineers on application support initiatives, and ensuring code quality through unit testing and documentation. While most efforts will be maintenance and support focused, there will be opportunities to contribute to new feature development and modernization initiatives. The consultant will also leverage AI-enabled development tools, such as GitHub Copilot, to improve productivity and delivery efficiency.
