Job summary

Caraa is seeking a Senior Backend TypeScript Engineer to build and maintain high performance backend services powering our personalized health experiences. You will collaborate with senior engineers to grow scalable infrastructure APIs and event driven services, delivering fast, reliable health insights from genome data.

You will own end-to-end feature development, write clean, high-performance code, and drive excellence across the team while ensuring security and observability in production

Qualifications

• 5+ years of backend development experience.
• Expert with TypeScript and comfortable owning production backend services.
• Experience with functional programming.
• Deep hands on experience with PostgreSQL, MySQL, and service based architectures.
• Strong debugging, testing, and performance tuning skills.
• Able to work independently while collaborating closely with key teammates.
• Customer driven with a passion for building systems that deliver exceptional experiences.
• Nice to have familiarity with genomics, health data, or personalization systems; startup or fast paced environments; or Rust.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain performant backend services in TypeScript that power our core personalized experiences.
• Build and grow scalable infrastructure APIs and event driven services that deliver data driven features to users.
• Support and optimize production ready backend systems so they stay fast and dependable under load.
• Integrate and manage services such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, AWS SQS, and Centrifugo in the backend.
• Make systems reliable, secure, and observable so people can trust their DNA data is safe.
• Own and drive end to end feature development with a strong eye on user experience.
• Write clean, reliable code with performance and maintainability in mind from the start.
• Champion clean code, technical excellence, and continuous improvement across the team.
• Debug, test, and performance tune across services to catch problems before users feel them.
• Maintain, modernize, and migrate legacy code so older systems keep up with new demand.
• Take ownership of complex problems and drive them to a clear working solution.
