Job summary

Coinbase is seeking a Senior Software Engineer on the Access & Authorization team within the Platform group to design and operate authentication and authorization capabilities across Coinbase products.

You will build secure, low-latency Go and gRPC services, manage tokens and sessions, and mentor engineers while collaborating with product, security, and infra teams to balance user experience with regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

• 5+ years backend software engineering experience with Go or similar
• Strong experience designing secure APIs (OAuth, OpenID Connect, JWTs) and token handling
• Experience with gRPC, Protocol Buffers, Redis, DynamoDB, metrics/logs/traces/SLOs

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end design, implementation, and operation of authentication and authorization capabilities
• Build secure, low-latency Go and gRPC services used across Coinbase products
• Lead technical designs for features like signed tokens, passkeys, device-aware authentication, and mobile OAuth
• Collaborate with product, security, fraud, and infra teams to balance UX and regulatory requirements
• Mentor engineers through reviews, pairing, and on-call participation
