Job summary

Manifest is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to design and scale web services and ETL architectures that support hundreds of thousands of transactions per second. You’ll bridge gaps between teams, improve performance, and build features for a global platform used by critical organizations.

You will contribute to a high-performing engineering culture, collaborating with product, design, and other engineers while expanding our scalable, cloud-native infrastructure.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in software engineering with a focus on web services and ETL systems.
• Proven track record scaling high-volume, data-intensive systems.
• Expertise in distributed systems, microservices, and cloud architectures.
• Familiarity with containerization, orchestration, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Strong proficiency in TypeScript, Mongo, Go, Python; capable of quickly picking related languages.
• Experience with SaaS and on-prem products serving external customers.
• Experience in early-stage B2B SaaS startups.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Architect and build scalable web services and ETL pipelines.
• Design high-performance systems that handle 10K's+ transactions/sec.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to optimize systems and integrate new tech.
• Develop robust monitoring, testing, and deployment strategies for mission-critical services.
• Define and maintain high engineering standards and help recruit teammates.
• Work closely with product management, designers, and other engineers.
• Resolve issues quickly and collaboratively and communicate progress clearly.
