Job summary

Affir is a remote-first company redefining how people pay over time, with a focus on clear pricing and no surprises. Identity Engineering oversees onboarding and authentication across Affir’s product surfaces, delivering high-availability backend systems written in Python or Kotlin.

You will drive quarterly goals, guide engineers through ambiguity, collaborate with product, design and analytics, and advocate for quality through code reviews and architecture decisions.

Qualifications

• 4+ years designing, developing and launching backend systems at scale.
• Experience delivering highly available distributed systems.
• Ability to define a technical plan for delivery of a major feature.
• Ability to safely make significant changes in a large codebase.
• Proven ownership of growth and proactive feedback seeking.

Responsibilities

• Own and deliver quarterly goals for the engineering team.
• Collaborate with product management, design & analytics throughout the lifecycle.
• Identify and lead resolution of project, process or tech issues.
• Support operations and on-call availability of team artifacts.
• Set and promote code review and design standards.
