Rippling seeks a Senior Backend Engineer to design and build services, APIs, and platform primitives powering complex workflows across its multi-product platform. You’ll handle permissions, policy enforcement, payments, device management, procurement, auditability, and secure handling of sensitive data.

You’ll contribute to AI-powered workflows, ensuring reliability, explainability, and enterprise-grade security while enabling scalable automation for HR, IT, Finance, and Spend teams.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in a production environment using Python/Django or related tech.
• Experience shipping complex backend projects at scale.
• Strong CS fundamentals and algorithmic knowledge.
• Good communication with diverse stakeholders.
• Exposure to frontend work (React/TypeScript) is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develop and improve product backend capabilities and user-facing features.
• Own design and implementation of backend services and APIs.
• Build reliable, secure, scalable systems for high-volume workflows.
• Translate business needs into robust technical solutions with cross-functional teams.
• Evolve systems covering workflows, permissions, and financial operations.
• Promote engineering best practices through design reviews and mentorship.
