Job summary

Wonder is seeking a senior software engineer to architect, build, and maintain highly scalable consumer-facing applications in a fast-paced, product-driven environment. You will drive design decisions, ensure reliability, and contribute to the platform’s evolution.

You will work with Java and other OO languages, leverage AWS, and implement robust testing and observability. Collaboration across teams and ownership of critical components are key aspects of this role.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in science, programming or engineering.
• 5+ years building scalable consumer applications.
• Experience with Java or other object-oriented languages.
• Experience with AWS or similar cloud platforms.
• Automated testing experience (JUnit/Mockito/JMeter).
• Experience with distributed systems and high availability.
• Building observability into applications.
• Experience with Cassandra or NoSQL databases.
• Docker or containerized workloads.
• CI/CD with Gradle/Jenkins/Spinnaker.

Responsibilities

• Architect, design, and develop testable, fault-tolerant software with future evolution in mind.
• Ensure performance, security, and scalability of the platform.
• Oversee delivery, deployment, maintenance and monitoring of applications and services.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to prioritize features and tech debt.
