Job summary

Lila Sciences, Cambridge, MA, is seeking a Senior Software Engineer I/II to lead back-end and data systems that schedule experiments and model digital twins. You will own core backend services used by scientists, operators, and engineers to run robotics workflows and trust data.

Responsibilities include designing scheduling systems, building the data layer, and enabling data science through batch and event-driven pipelines, all on cloud-native infrastructure with a strong focus on reliability

Qualifications

• 4–8 years of backend engineering in production services using Python (FastAPI).
• Experience with data engineering pipelines and workflow orchestration (Flyte/Temporal).
• Strong SQL (PostgreSQL) and data modeling with S3/lakehouse.
• Cloud-native delivery with AWS EKS, Docker/ECR, Terraform, and CI/CD.
• End-to-end ownership from design to delivery for services.
• Strong collaboration across engineers, scientists, and business partners.

Responsibilities

• Design scheduling systems for experiments, instruments, and compute across autonomous labs.
• Model digital twins and data layer to predict factory behavior before resource commitment.
• Own Flyte pipelines, S3 lakehouse, and PostgreSQL models for governed data.
• Ship batch and event-driven pipelines to empower data science and modeling.
• Deliver capacity planning via customer-facing services to forecast factory capacity.
• Operate at scale on AWS EKS with Docker/ECR, Terraform, and GitHub Actions.
