Job summary

Jobtailor in New York City is seeking a senior backend engineer to design and implement server-side logic for the Blueflame AI platform, focusing on scalable data processing.

You will build and optimize REST APIs, work with MongoDB and Redis, ensure security, and contribute to system design and architecture while collaborating with product teams. Onsite three days per week in NYC.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Expert-level Python proficiency.
• Extensive experience building production REST APIs.
• Strong system design and architecture experience.
• Experience with distributed systems.
• Experience with MongoDB and Redis.
• Based in NYC metro area or willing to relocate and onsite three days/week.

Responsibilities

• Implement security measures to protect data and applications from unauthorized access and vulnerabilities.
• Contribute to system design and architectural decisions — evaluate trade‑offs and communicate technical direction.
• Review and approve pull requests; plan and scope deliverables against timelines.
• Optimize platform performance and identify and fix bugs.
• Collaborate with Product and Client Success on requirements and delivery.
• Write and maintain documentation for code, processes, and best practices.
