Job summary

Expedia Group is seeking a Senior Software Development Engineer to own and evolve mission-critical air supply services. You will design, implement, and operate backend systems in Java, driving reliability, scale, and traveler outcomes across a global air marketplace.

You will collaborate with product and partner teams, apply data-driven thinking, and contribute to AI-enabled tooling to improve code quality, testing, and operations. This is a senior, impact-driven role based in Seattle.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related technical field or equivalent experience.
• 8+ years building and operating production backend or full-stack services, with strong Java experience.
• Ownership of backend services including design, implementation, deployment, and health.
• Strong fundamentals in data structures, algorithms, system design, API design, and data modeling in Java.
• Experience with modern web tech, microservices, RESTful APIs, and AI-enabled tooling.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and evolve backend services and data models for scalable, secure solutions.
• Implement high-quality Java backend code with maintainability and observability.
• Collaborate with product and design teams to translate requirements into robust services.
• Own end-to-end lifecycle including testing, deployment, and incident resolution.
• Apply data-driven approaches to optimize performance and reliability.
