Job summary

E-Space in Saratoga, CA is seeking a Senior Backend Software Engineer to build the backend platform powering our connected-device solutions. You will work across cloud services, APIs, data pipelines, fleet management, and real-time device communications.

You will design PostgreSQL schemas, implement REST and WebSocket endpoints, and apply CI/CD, tests, and reliability practices. Collaboration with embedded, hardware, frontend, and product teams is essential, with on-site work and high autonomy.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of backend software development experience in production systems.
• Strong Python experience with FastAPI, Django, Flask, or comparable backend frameworks.
• Strong knowledge of PostgreSQL, SQL, schema design, migrations, and data lifecycle management.
• Hands-on AWS experience with EC2, Lambda, S3, Cognito and infrastructure-as-code.
• Experience with MQTT, WebSockets, or real-time data delivery.
• Experience designing and building REST APIs.
• Strong automated testing skills (unit/integration/end-to-end).
• Experience with Git, CI/CD, and production deployment practices.
• Clear communicator across engineering disciplines.
• Experience with Linux.

Responsibilities

• Build, maintain, and improve Python/FastAPI backend services and REST/WebSocket endpoints.
• Develop features for device provisioning, fleet management, telemetry, events, and OTA updates.
• Design PostgreSQL schemas, migrations, and data retention strategies.
• Build data-ingestion services using AWS and cloud services.
• Write tests and participate in code reviews.
• Collaborate with embedded, hardware, frontend, and product teams.
