Job summary

Berlitz is seeking a Senior Backend Developer to design and build the next generation of its global online learning platform. You will own core services, build scalable microservices, and work in an agile environment with Claude Code integrated into the workflow.

You will collaborate with mobile and web teams, implement APIs (gRPC and REST), use PostgreSQL and AWS, and champion clean code with strong testing.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional backend development experience, with microservices and PostgreSQL.
• Strong Rust production experience, including ownership, lifetimes, and async (Tokio).
• Proficiency in Go and/or Python to build complementary services.
• Experience with GitHub for version control and code reviews.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement highly scalable microservices from scratch.
• Build robust APIs (gRPC, REST) for cross-team consumption.
• Collaborate with mobile and web teams and provide architectural guidance.
• Champion clean code and high test coverage in a distributed system.
