Job summary

Navan is hiring a Software Engineer II on the Flights team to build and scale the core backend powering flight search, booking, payment, and expenses worldwide. You will own high-throughput APIs, drive outages resilient systems, and collaborate with Product, Design, and Engineering Leads to ship end-to-end features.

You should have 3–5 years of backend experience, strong CS fundamentals, and proficiency in Java with Spring Boot and Hibernate, plus AWS cloud experience.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of professional backend software development experience.
• Strong computer science foundations (data structures, algorithms, OO design).
• End-to-end ownership with emphasis on test coverage, monitoring, and docs.

Responsibilities

• Architect & Scale Core Services: design and maintain high-throughput APIs and backend microservices for flight search, booking, and payment workflows.
• Ship End-to-End Features: own features from architecture and data modeling to production deployment and monitoring.
• Drive System Resiliency & Quality: build fault-tolerant systems with automated testing, observability, and alerting for maximum uptime.
• Collaborate & Influence Product: work with Product, Designers, and Engineering Leads to translate requirements into scalable solutions.
• Elevate Developer Craftsmanship: participate in code reviews, contribute to shared frameworks, and promote engineering best practices.
• Innovate & Learn: evaluate new technologies to modernize backend stack and refine architecture.
