Job summary

Accenture Federal Services is seeking a Backend Application Engineer to turn complex mission needs into reliable enterprise software. You’ll build services, APIs, business logic, data access layers, and integrations powering federal applications across defense, public safety, civilian and health programs.

You will work with Product Managers, Quality Engineers, Cloud Platform Engineers, and client stakeholders, applying secure coding, CI/CD, and testing.

Qualifications

• Experience in back-end, application, software, API, or integration engineering.
• Hands-on development in at least one modern enterprise language such as Java, C#, JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, Go.
• Experience building or consuming REST APIs and enterprise integrations.
• Experience with relational or NoSQL databases.
• Familiarity with code assist technologies (e.g., Gemini Code Assist, GitHub Copilot).
• Understanding of automated testing, source control, CI/CD, and Agile software delivery.
• For deeper experience, ability to lead complex work and mentor teams.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, test, and maintain enterprise application services and APIs.
• Develop solutions using appropriate languages and frameworks; integrate with databases, messaging, cloud services.
• Modernize legacy components and decompose into maintainable services.
• Write tests, participate in code reviews, and support CI/CD and production issues.
• Apply secure coding, observability, and data-integrity practices.
