Job summary

CommIT is a fully remote team, headquartered in the San Francisco Bay Area, and is hiring a Senior Backend Engineer. The role is open to candidates based in Latin America and focuses on the backend, primarily Python and Django, with light frontend work when needed (HTMX, occasional React).

You will own features from start to production, collaborating directly with the founders on product and technical direction.

Qualifications

• 6+ years building production web applications.
• 3+ years with Python and Django.
• Celery, RabbitMQ, and Redis in production.
• Working knowledge of CS fundamentals: data structures, concurrency, SQL, system design
• Strong written communication; comfortable working async across time zones
• Self-direction and follow-through

Responsibilities

• Develop Django backend powering consumer dashboard and B2B platform.
• Add new API features for consumer dashboard and reporting.
• Improve performance and reliability of Celery and RabbitMQ pipelines.
• Integrate with third-party services (Stripe, WorkOS SSO).
• Code review and collaboration on a small backend team.
• Own features end-to-end, including production readiness.
