1m is a fast-growing healthcare tech startup seeking a Senior Backend Engineer for Data & Product. You will own data pipelines, modeling, and API work in a remote US-based environment, collaborating with a small team of developers, designers, and SMEs.

You will shape the data backend, ensuring high-quality client data flows, secure data handling, and scalable architectures. The role emphasizes cross-stack contributions, observability, and practical backend depth in a growing company.

Qualifications

• 7+ years building automated ETL pipelines.
• Backend development with Python (Django, Flask, FastAPI) and REST.
• Experience with orchestration tools (Airflow, Dagster, Prefect, AWS Step Functions).
• Knowledge of data warehousing patterns; Snowflake is a plus.
• Experience across cloud providers (AWS preferred).
• Experience with data stores (Postgres, object storage).
• Authorization, authentication, and secure handling of data in regulated environments.

Responsibilities

• Get hands-on in Snowflake/Dagster/AWS environment; simplify and own architecture.
• Build ETLs and orchestration to move data predictably with observability.
• Design secure integrations with client financial systems to pull minimum data.
• Collaborate with security to enforce access controls and protect PHI.
• Contribute to data models, services, and APIs across the stack.
• Communicate updates clearly in Slack and document in long-form form.
