Job summary

Rippling in Seattle seeks a Senior Software Engineer for the RQL platform to help build core services and data pipelines. You will work across product and platform layers to enable scalable, configurable features in our analytics suite and data cloud.

The role emphasizes distributed systems, advanced data processing, and language development for Rippling’s internal tools. Collaboration with multiple teams and autonomy are required.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in backend engineering roles.
• Experience writing testable and performant backend code.
• Experience mentoring less‑experienced developers.

Responsibilities

• Work on distributed processing engines and distributed databases.
• Develop high‑quality software using Python, MongoDB, CDC, and Kafka.
• Leverage big data technologies like Aurora, Trino, Presto, Pinot, Iceberg, Flink and more.
• Build custom programming languages within the Rippling Platform.
• Create data platforms, data lakes, and data ingestion systems that scale.
• Design, develop, code, and test software systems and user experiences.
• Collaborate with architects and senior developers on advanced projects.
• Contribute to product design and implementation discussions.
• Find and build unique solutions from idea to production.
