Job summary

SteerBridge in Vienna, VA is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to design, build, and maintain the backend systems powering our data platform. You will write production-grade Python, shape architecture, and coordinate with data science, product, and other engineering teams to deliver reliable data infrastructure.

The role emphasizes leadership, collaboration, and hands-on coding, with responsibilities across optimization, reviews, and mentoring junior engineers while supporting scalable

Qualifications

• 6+ years of backend or data systems software engineering experience.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
• Experience mentoring engineers and contributing to team technical direction is a plus.
• Strong Python and SQL coding skills.
• Experience with AWS, Redshift, Terraform, and Airflow is preferred.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain backend services and data pipelines that support analytics, reporting, and downstream applications.
• Write clean, well-tested Python and SQL code and contribute to engineering standards.
• Architect data storage, processing, and integration solutions that scale with business needs.
• Lead technical design discussions and trade-offs between performance, cost, and maintainability.
• Partner with data scientists, analysts, product managers, and other engineering teams to translate requirements into solutions.
• Own project timelines and deliverables for cross-functional initiatives.
