Job summary

SteerBridge, a modern technology company serving the U.S. Government and private sector, seeks a Mid-Level Data Engineer for its Vienna, VA headquarters.

You will design and optimize data pipelines for real-time and batch processing, collaborating with architects, analysts, and data scientists on AI/ML and cloud initiatives. You will implement scalable ETL processes, ensure data quality and governance, and mentor junior engineers while contributing to secure, compliant data solutions.

Qualifications

• U.S. Citizen with active security clearance or ability to obtain one.
• Bachelor's degree in CS or related field with 3+ years of experience.
• Strong Python and SQL skills; experience with Pandas, PySpark, AWS Glue.
• Deep knowledge of ETL, data lake design, and cloud architecture.
• Experience with data governance, security compliance, and data quality.

Responsibilities

• Build, optimize, and maintain batch and real-time data pipelines (ETL/ELT).
• Lead design and implementation of scalable ETL and data lake architecture.
• Utilize dbt, Informatica, Azure Data Factory, Databricks for data transformation; AWS services for orchestration.
• Perform data profiling, quality checks, governance, and security across systems.
• Support cloud-based data processing (AWS S3, Azure Blob) and API integration.
• Collaborate with data science, engineering, and stakeholders to deliver data products.
• Mentor junior engineers and provide code reviews.
• Maintain documentation for pipelines, structures, and standards.
• Support secure data governance and performance tuning in cloud platforms.
