Job summary

Expedia Group is seeking a Senior Software Development Engineer (Content) in Chicago. You will design and evolve APIs and data models for our content and catalog experiences, lead architecture work, and drive end-to-end delivery across multiple services in a DevOps environment.

You’ll collaborate with product and architecture teams to enable scalable, reusable content capabilities and mentor peers while safely integrating AI/ML into content workflows to boost quality and efficiency.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field or equivalent experience.
• 8+ years of professional software development experience.
• Experience owning backend or full-stack services in production, from design to operations.
• Proven experience designing service-oriented or microservice architectures for content/catalog domains.
• Proficiency in Kotlin or Java and related frameworks; strong SQL/NoSQL data modeling.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and evolve complex services, APIs, and data models powering content/catalog experiences with high availability and performance.
• Lead system design and LLD efforts for content/catalog services, including API design and data modeling.
• Drive end-to-end delivery for multi-service features from discovery to deployment and support.
• Collaborate with product, architecture, and partner engineering teams to define technical requirements for reusable content capabilities.
• Champion CI/CD, observability, and operational readiness; mentor engineers in best practices.
• Safely integrate AI/ML-enabled solutions into content workflows to improve quality, coverage, and developer productivity.
