Job summary

Harnham in Tempe, AZ is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to design, develop, and deliver scalable cloud-based applications and services. This role focuses on backend development while collaborating with architects, engineers, and stakeholders to build high-performance platforms, APIs, and customer-facing solutions.

You will work with cloud-native microservices on AWS, implement DevOps practices, and contribute to architecture discussions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS/IT/Engineering or related field.
• 6–8 years of experience in large-scale web/API-driven apps.
• Proven ability to design scalable microservices and backend systems.
• Experience with Node.js, TypeScript, AWS, AWS serverless, MongoDB, REST APIs, SQL/NoSQL.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain scalable backend services and distributed apps.
• Develop cloud-native microservices using AWS and modern frameworks.
• Create and support RESTful APIs and integrations.
• Contribute to architecture discussions and solution design.
• Evaluate new technologies and improve the tech stack.
• Build PoCs to validate approaches.
• Refactor apps to improve scalability and performance.
• Collaborate with teams to create reusable components and services.
• Promote standardisation and reduce duplicate efforts.
• Participate in Agile planning, estimation, and delivery.
• Work with leaders to align with enterprise standards.
• Support testing, deployment, and release processes.
• Coordinate UAT and gather stakeholder feedback.
• Track defects and feature requests with issue tools.
• Identify risks and technical challenges and communicate them.
• Prepare architecture artefacts and solution designs.
