Deploy is seeking backend-focused developers to launch new features into production, with autonomy and a willingness to tackle scale. Ideal candidates build core services and web-based APIs from ground up, care about product quality as much as the tech powering it, and write clean, maintainable code.

The role emphasizes designing scalable backend systems, applying secure coding practices, and contributing to product direction while maintaining high code quality and robust testing.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience building scalable web applications.
• Experience or strong interest in writing applications in Node.js.
• Designed and implemented highly-available distributed systems/microservices.
• Experience building platforms that expose scalable backend APIs.
• Deep experience with relational databases, PostgreSQL preferred.
• Understanding monitoring and alerting platforms is a plus.
• Strong focus on code quality, automated testing, and engineering best practices.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement or improve features in backend systems including REST APIs, microservices, data ingestion and processing, and distributed task processing.
• Write and maintain scalable, performant and secure code shared across platforms.
• Contribute to the product and core backend systems by proposing improvements.
• Improve engineering standards, tooling, processes and security.
• Practice test-driven development.
• Debug production issues across services and stack levels.
• Participate in on-call rotations as needed.
• Apply OWASP top 10 practices to secure code from vulnerabilities.
• Stay aware of best practices in data maintenance handling.
