About the Team and Role:

We seek a talented Senior Backend Engineer to help shape Poe’s future. You will work at the forefront of AI, building tools to accelerate bot onboarding, collaborating with LLM providers, and enhancing our external API for developers. This is a high-impact role with visibility into how creators build on Poe.

As a senior engineer, you’ll drive feature planning, backend implementation, and contribute to a fast-paced, cross-functional cycle. If you’re passionate about AI and emerging technologies, we’d love to hear from you.

Responsibilities:

• Work with cross-functional teams to advise on product roadmap and develop features for bot creators.
• Improve developer APIs for performance and reliability.
• Advocate for user experience and scalable, sustainable code.
• Collaborate with LLM providers to integrate new models.
• Participate in on-call duties to ensure reliability and quality.

Minimum Requirements:

• Availability during Quora's “coordination hours” (Mon-Fri: 9am-3pm PT).
• 5+ years working with large-scale codebases and web applications.
• 3+ years experience in Python or similar languages.
• A passion for learning and team improvement.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Requirements:

• Passion for Poe, Quora’s products, and mission.
• Interest in API design and developer experience.
• Commitment to code quality and elegant system design.

Salary ranges:

• US: $155,656 - $225,160 USD + benefits.
• Canada: $188,760 - $234,039 CAD + benefits.
