Job summary

Grafana Labs is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to join our analytics context layer project. You will design and ship core services for ingestion, indexing, retrieval, and agent-facing integrations in a fully remote, globally distributed team.

You will work across SaaS multi-tenant boundaries, implement observability, and collaborate with product and infrastructure to deliver scalable backend systems powered by modern GenAI workflows. Remote US/Canada eligible.

Qualifications

Experience with LLMs, prompt engineering, and building GenAI-powered applications.
Proven track record delivering production software.
Experience in cloud-native environments (AWS, GCP, Azure).
Experience using observability tools to understand system behavior.
Experience with data analytics tools such as Looker/Tableau/PowerBI is a plus.

Responsibilities

Build core backend services for context ingestion, indexing, retrieval, APIs, and agent-facing integrations.
Create a scalable SaaS foundation with multi-tenant architecture, quotas, audit logs, and background jobs.
Power agent-facing retrieval workflows and API interfaces for agents and internal tools.
Collaborate across product and infrastructure teams.
Instrument services with metrics, logs, traces, alerts, and dashboards.
Contribute to technical direction.
