Workato, Inc. is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to build the distributed backend powering its AI agent platform, including event-driven services, real-time integrations, and APIs for scalable, production-ready systems.

You will own end-to-end features from ideation to deployment, ensuring reliability and performance as the user base grows toward 1M+. Strong Python and distributed-systems expertise, plus hands-on Kubernetes experience, are essential.

Qualifications

• 5+ years shipping and operating production backend systems at scale.
• Strong proficiency in Python with clean, well-tested code.
• Deep distributed-systems fundamentals and design for partial failure.
• Hands-on experience with event-driven, streaming, or real-time systems.
• Production experience on Kubernetes in the cloud with observability.

Responsibilities

• Build event-driven, horizontally-scalable backend services that remain correct under partial failure.
• Develop real-time surfaces and integrations with streaming connections and gateways.
• Integrate LLMs and agentic harnesses into production systems.
• Drive features end-to-end from ideation to deployment and iteration.
• Raise the engineering bar with clean code, reviews, and mentorship.
