Job summary

project44 is building p44LSP.ai to empower Logistics Service Providers with AI-driven decision intelligence. You will design, build, and operate backend systems powering these capabilities, partnering with product, data, and design to translate complex problems into scalable technical solutions.

Based in our US HQ, this on-site role requires strong Java and cloud experience, with a focus on scalable microservices, secure IAM, and data-driven insights.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience building large-scale, cloud-based systems.
• Strong programming and debugging skills with Java.
• Experience designing and building scalable Java-based microservices.
• Experience designing and consuming APIs (REST, OpenAPI/Swagger).
• Experience with NoSQL and/or relational databases (MongoDB, DynamoDB, Postgres).
• Experience working in an Agile software development environment.
• Comfortable using AI-assisted development tools while maintaining high standards for code quality.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate backend systems powering decision intelligence for LSPs.
• Build services and workflows to reduce manual effort and enable action with carriers.
• Own and modernize core platform services such as IAM and search infrastructure.
• Transform large-scale logistics data into actionable insights.
• Partner with product, data, and design to translate problems into scalable solutions.
• Build and operate systems on Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• Take shared ownership of development, testing, deployment, and operations.
• Participate in on-call rotation, debugging and resolving issues.
• Improve observability, monitoring, and operational tooling.
• Contribute to design discussions, code reviews, and documentation.
• Mentor and support other engineers through code reviews and pairing.
