Job summary

Philo, a leading TV streaming company, seeks a Senior Backend Software Engineer (Ad Engineering) to architect and scale its SSAI ad platform. You will lead technical direction, collaborate with ad ops and business teams, and ensure compliant, high-performance ad delivery across Philo’s OTT ecosystem.

The role emphasizes building scalable services in cloud-native environments, leveraging Golang/Java/C++, and aligning with evolving ad tech standards. Remote-friendly within the U.S.

Qualifications

• Experience building or integrating SSAI using MPEG-DASH or HLS streaming technologies.
• Familiarity with ad tech standards such as VAST, VMAP, OpenRTB and header bidding.
• Proven track record of building highly efficient and highly available software in Golang, Java or C++.
• Experience deploying in cloud environments with Docker/Kubernetes.
• Ability to work with data to prioritize projects and understand relational/non-relational databases.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, deploy, and monitor the next generation of Philo’s SSAI service.
• Collaborate with partners in the ad ecosystem to engineer ad tech products delivering quality TV experience.
• Coordinate with video delivery, ad operations and data science teams to measure and optimize ad delivery and viewing experience.
• Build scalable data pipelines for ingesting ad creatives and measurement events using distributed computing and microservices.
• Improve reliability, performance, and security of Philo’s ad services.
• Implement identity solutions for ad targeting and measurement.
• Interface with standards bodies (IAB, MRC) to adopt new certifications and maintain compliance.
• Develop tools to monitor and troubleshoot ad delivery issues.
