Job summary

Customer.io is hiring senior backend engineers to design and own the infrastructure powering a data‑intensive marketing platform. You’ll build scalable Go services, handle billions of daily events, and shape reliable, observable systems used by thousands of customers worldwide.

Join the Platform team to tackle distributed systems, improve fault tolerance, and advance performance, with ownership over critical infrastructure and opportunities to mentor teammates.

Qualifications

• Deep experience building scalable, distributed systems.
• Strong focus on reliability and observability.
• Comfort with performance trade-offs at scale.
• Experience with event-driven systems or data pipelines is a plus.
• Collaborative mind-set and talent for mentoring others.

Responsibilities

• Design and evolve distributed systems in Go to handle billions of daily events and messages.
• Lead architectural decisions around performance, reliability, and real-time processing.
• Improve service-to-service communication through APIs and messaging patterns.
• Work with multiple teams to uncover bottlenecks and drive resolution for a smoother customer experience.
• Tackle high-throughput challenges across data pipelines and scheduling infrastructure.
• Debug production systems at scale with effective instrumentation and rapid fixes.
• Share knowledge and raise the bar through public progress updates and mentorship.
• Leverage AI tools to prototype and accelerate decision-making.
