Job summary

EnerMech is seeking an experienced Senior Data Engineer to take technical ownership of Azure Databricks workstreams, spanning data modelling, pipeline development, and platform infrastructure. The role supports the global EBS function and reports into the Enterprise Business Systems team.

You will collaborate with stakeholders across time zones and regions while deploying scalable data solutions, ensuring data quality and security across environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 6+ years in data engineering, incl. 3+ years with Azure Databricks in production.
• Ownership of medallion architecture design and data modelling.
• Implemented data quality frameworks and data contracts in production.
• Implemented PII protection across environments.
• Platform engineering experience: diagnosing infrastructure issues.
• Autonomous delivery with direct stakeholder engagement.
• Databricks Certified Data Engineer Associate (minimum).
• Desirable: Databricks Certified Data Engineer Professional.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and deploy Azure Databricks workstreams from scoping to production deployment.
• Maintain medallion data model (bronze/silver/gold) and certify data for reporting and analytics.
• Build and optimise Delta tables and materialized views for performance at scale.
• Design and implement data quality frameworks and data contracts.
• Define compute configurations for workloads balancing performance and cost.
• Contribute to and troubleshoot Terraform-managed infrastructure.
• Own and maintain Azure DevOps pipelines, variable groups, libraries, and security.
• Manage environment-level Azure configuration and Terraform state across environments.
• Operate autonomously across a workstream from scoping to deployment.
• Use AI-assisted tooling with governance checks before acting.
• Communicate across time zones with UK, Americas, Middle East and APAC.
