Job summary

Cognizant is seeking a Senior Azure Databricks Data Engineer / Architect to design scalable cloud-based data platform solutions for enterprise analytics on Azure. You will lead end-to-end data pipelines, build Databricks SQL queries, and ensure governance and security across the pipeline.

The role is hybrid with 1-2 days per week in Irvine, California, and requires strong SQL/PL-SQL skills, ODI experience, and collaboration with product owners and analysts to deliver reliable data solutions.

Qualifications

• Strong experience with Azure Databricks and PySpark in enterprise-scale data engineering.
• Hands-on experience with Azure Data Factory and cloud-based data integration.
• Experience with Oracle Data Integrator (ODI) and relational databases.
• Strong SQL and PL/SQL development with performance tuning.
• Experience designing data lakes, data pipelines and cloud-based analytics on Azure.
• Proficiency with Azure DevOps, CI/CD and automated deployment practices.
• Experience implementing data governance and access management (e.g., Azure Key Vault).
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

• Design and architect end-to-end data platform solutions using Azure Databricks and Azure Data Services.
• Build and optimize scalable data pipelines using Python and PySpark.
• Configure and administer Databricks environments including security and cluster optimization.
• Develop and maintain data models and Databricks SQL queries for BI.
• Implement CI/CD and data platform best practices with Azure DevOps to ensure quality and reliability.
