Job summary

Murphy Oil Corporation is seeking an experienced Data & Integration Architect to lead enterprise data engineering and integration initiatives. You will guide architecture and delivery, with hands-on expertise in the Microsoft Azure ecosystem and strong governance focus.

The Advisor role is based in Houston and may allow up to two remote days per week as business needs permit. You will lead cross-functional teams and partner with stakeholders to ensure scalable, secure data platforms.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related technical field.
  • Minimum 20 years of progressive experience in data engineering and integration.
  • Strong hands-on expertise with Microsoft Azure stack and Azure cloud platform.
  • Deep experience with Azure Databricks and Genie (or similar AI data tools).
  • Applied AI/ML capabilities integrated into data engineering workflows.
  • Solid data governance knowledge with Unity Catalog, Purview, and related tools.
  • Hands-on Azure integration services: APIM, Logic Apps, Functions, Data Factory.
  • Proficiency in SQL, Python, and PySpark.
  • Familiar with Agile/Scrum delivery practices.
  • Excellent communication and mentoring abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Architect, design, and oversee scalable data engineering and integration solutions across the enterprise.
  • Translate business requirements into robust technical designs aligned with enterprise standards.
  • Lead end-to-end delivery with hands-on guidance to distributed engineering teams.
  • Design and implement data pipelines using ADF, Logic Apps, Functions, and APIM.
  • Optimize data platforms with Azure Databricks and AI-assisted workflows.
  • Establish data governance with Unity Catalog and Purview.
  • Apply AI/ML to enhance data solutions and automate processes.
  • Mentor junior engineers and collaborate with stakeholders to achieve outcomes.
