Job summary

Navy Federal Credit Union is seeking a Senior Principal Engineer for Azure Data as a Service and Azure AI Infrastructure. The role focuses on designing, implementing, and maintaining enterprise Azure data and AI platform solutions that are secure, scalable, and cost-optimized.

Responsibilities include technical leadership, security-by-design architecture, and guiding customers onboarding to the Azure platform, with a strong emphasis on governance, monitoring, and operational excellence.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, information security, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Hands-on experience designing and maintaining Azure Data PaaS services (Azure SQL, Synapse, Data Factory, Databricks, ADLS Gen2).
• Advanced expertise configuring Azure security and governance (Policy, RBAC, Private Endpoints, Key Vault).
• Experience in Azure cost optimization and capacity planning.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills; capable of leading IT initiatives end-to-end.
• IaC deployments using Azure Pipelines and/or Terraform.

Responsibilities

• Apply engineering principles to design, enhance, and operate Azure Data and AI platform services.
• Research, deploy, configure, and support Azure Data and AI resources and dependencies.
• Provide technical leadership in architecture, design, and development of enterprise Azure Data and AI solutions.
• Ensure secure-by-design architecture and governance across platforms.
• Anticipate platform changes and upgrades; drive improvements for reliability.
• Investigate and resolve data platform performance issues with Azure Infrastructure teams.
• Guide customers onboarding applications to Azure platform for successful outcomes.
• Implement monitoring, logging, and alerting to enable operational excellence.
• Document platform components and publish standards; engineer IaC deployments.
• Present technical information clearly for business decisions; mentor engineers.
• Participate in on-call rotation for business applications.
