Job summary

NAM Info Inc. in Cary, NC is seeking a hands-on API architect with 10+ years in API and backend engineering, including 3+ years owning API architecture. This design-and-build role combines architecture with hands-on coding, with a ~60/40 split and onsite/hybrid options.

You will lead API design for the enterprise Data Hub on Azure, define contracts, OpenAPI standards, and implement reactive Java Spring WebFlux services, while leveraging Python for automation and tooling. H1B transfer is fine.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in API, integration or backend engineering.
• 3+ years owning API architecture at enterprise scale.
• Strong hands-on Java with Spring WebFlux and Project Reactor.
• Experience with Azure services and data platforms.
• Proficient in API design: REST, OpenAPI, versioning and contracts.
• Knowledge of secure file-transfer patterns and data protection.
• Familiar with Python for automation and tooling.
• Strong SQL and data modelling skills.

Responsibilities

• Own the API architecture end-to-end, including service boundaries, contracts and data models.
• Design repeatable API patterns for multiple interfaces and data flows.
• Define contract standards and OpenAPI approaches for backward compatibility.
• Design for large file transfers with chunking, streaming and resumable transfers.
• Make trade-offs between synchronous and asynchronous interfaces and document ADRs.
• Build reactive Java Spring WebFlux services and reference implementations.
• Ensure non-blocking I/O, backpressure and streaming for large payloads.
• Develop automated tooling in Python for testing and validation.
• Collaborate with customer teams, review PRs and mentor engineers.
