Job summary

System One is seeking a Senior AWS Python Developer / PySpark Data Engineer to join a hybrid team across multiple locations, including Columbia, SC. This hands-on role requires deep Python, Spark, and AWS expertise, with exposure to security data environments.

You will build scalable data pipelines, optimize performance, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver robust data solutions in a cyber-focused context.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of hands-on Python development, including data-intensive and big data applications.
• Strong Python programming fundamentals; production-grade applications.
• 5+ years with Apache Spark / PySpark; ability to troubleshoot and optimize Spark jobs.
• 5+ years of hands-on AWS experience (EMR, Lambda, EventBridge, Step Functions, Redshift, S3, Glue).
• Advanced SQL skills: complex queries, data transformations, joins, recursive CTEs.
• Experience developing and consuming REST APIs and integrating with external services/data sources.
• Strong background working with large datasets: manipulation, transformation, analysis, processing.
• Experience with Hadoop/EMR, Spark, and Hive.
• 4+ years of experience with AI technologies or applications.
• CI/CD and infrastructure automation with GitLab and Terraform.
• Strong debugging, performance tuning, analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to collaborate across development teams in a matrix organization.

Overview

We are looking for a Senior Python + PySpark Data Engineer with strong AWS big data experience — ideally someone who has worked in cybersecurity or security data environments.
This is primarily a hands-on data engineering role, not a traditional Python application developer role.

Responsibilities
