Job summary

Halian is seeking a Senior AWS DevOps Engineer to join a growing cloud engineering team in Tulsa. The role is hybrid (3 days onsite per week) and on a 6-month extendable contract, focusing on designing, implementing, and supporting cloud-native platforms and CI/CD pipelines on AWS.

You will manage infrastructure with Terraform, help automate deployments, and collaborate with product owners, architects, and engineering teams to deliver scalable and secure solutions.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in DevOps, Cloud Engineering, SysOps, Platform Engineering or related roles.
• Strong hands-on experience with AWS Cloud Services and Terraform.
• Experience building CI/CD pipelines using GitLab or similar platforms.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and operate cloud-native infrastructure on AWS.
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for continuous delivery.

We are looking for a highly skilled Senior AWS DevOps Engineer to join a growing cloud engineering team. This role is ideal for someone with deep AWS expertise, strong Infrastructure as Code experience, and a passion for building scalable, secure, and highly automated cloud environments.

You will play a key role in designing, implementing, and supporting cloud-native platforms, CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure automation, and operational excellence initiatives within a modern Agile environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and operate cloud-native infrastructure and platform services on AWS.
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines to support continuous delivery and deployment practices.
• Manage infrastructure through Infrastructure as Code using Terraform.
• Support development teams with cloud architecture, automation, monitoring, deployments, and operational best practices.
• Collaborate with Product Owners, Architects, and Engineering teams to deliver scalable and secure solutions.

Required Skills & Experience

• 5+ years of experience in DevOps, Cloud Engineering, SysOps, Platform Engineering, or related roles.
• Strong hands-on experience with AWS Cloud Services.
• Proven expertise in Terraform and Infrastructure as Code.
• Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using GitLab or similar platforms.
• Strong understanding of microservices architecture and cloud-native application design.
• Experience with REST APIs, event-driven architecture, messaging, and distributed systems.
• Experience with container technologies such as Docker and Amazon ECS.
• Strong scripting and automation experience.
• Experience working within Agile and continuous delivery environments.
• Excellent troubleshooting, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

Ideal Candidate Will Have Experience With

• AWS IAM, networking, and core AWS services.
• AWS Lambda, DynamoDB, SQS, SNS, EventBridge, ECS, and Docker.
• Terraform state management, lifecycle management, and dependency structures.
• GitLab pipelines, runner optimisation, deployment automation, and access management.
• Modern deployment strategies including Blue-Green and Canary deployments.
• OpenTelemetry, DataDog, SLOs, monitoring, alerting, and observability best practices.
• Enterprise security and cloud governance frameworks.

Nice to Have

• Troubleshooting Java applications, ECS services, and Lambda functions.
• Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity planning experience.
