Job summary

Syms Strategic Group, LLC seeks a Senior Systems Administrator to support and evolve our cloud and on-premises infrastructure. This remote, U.S.-based role requires deep AWS expertise, Windows and Linux proficiency, and strong scripting skills.

You will implement secure, scalable architectures and lead complex upgrades. Responsibilities include optimizing performance, backups, SOPs, and collaboration with network and app teams.

Qualifications

• Experience managing complex AWS environments.
• Proficient with Windows and Linux/Unix systems.
• Experience with high-availability cloud architectures.
• Strong knowledge of AWS services (EC2, S3, RDS, VPC, IAM, CloudFormation).
• Familiar with AWS security practices (IAM, Shield, WAF).
• Experience with IaC tools (Terraform, CDK, CloudFormation).
• Skilled in scripting Python, Bash, PowerShell or NodeJS.

Responsibilities

• Perform day-to-day maintenance, support, and upgrades for complex OS and server hardware.
• Coordinate and perform software installations and upgrades to OS and layered packages.
• Schedule installations and upgrades per IT procedures.
• Monitor and tune systems for optimum performance.
• Ensure data recoverability with backups and archives.
• Plan and modernize server infrastructure.
• Develop and implement SOPs and schedules.
• Audit workstations and servers for standards and compliance.
• Collaborate with Network and System Analysts on system design.
