Job summary

North is seeking a Senior AWS Cloud Engineer to design, implement, and maintain a scalable, secure AWS environment supporting payment solutions. You will mentor cloud engineers, drive automation, and integrate AI-driven tooling to boost engineering velocity.

This remote US role collaborates with DevOps and security teams to ensure resilient operations. The role requires strong AWS expertise, Linux administration, and hands-on IaC experience with Terraform and Ansible.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field
• 5+ years of experience with AWS
• Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and support to cloud engineers
• Extensive experience securing Linux based systems (Ubuntu and RHEL)
• Extensive experience using Terraform and Ansible

• Perform cloud administration duties including building and supporting cloud infrastructure and services
• Explore, evaluate, and integrate AI-driven tools to increase engineering velocity

• Work with DevOps teams to build and maintain systems, deployments, administration and patching

Job Summary:

The Senior AWS Cloud Engineer is responsible for administering, building, operating, and maintaining a resilient, scalable, and secure cloud environment to support core business operations. This role provides hands‑on technical guidance, mentorship, and support to other cloud engineers as required. Additionally, the Senior AWS Cloud Engineer helps drive operational efficiency by identifying and integrating AI-driven automation, AIOps, and AI toolsets across cloud computing environments to improve efficiencies within the cloud infrastructure.

What You’ll Do:

• Help architect and implement North’s Amazon Web Services (AWS) infrastructure to support our users and customers.
• Perform cloud administration duties including building & supporting cloud infrastructure and services, applications, containers, etc. according to industry best practices and company strategy.
• Explore, evaluate, and integrate AI-driven tools and agentic workflows (e.g., AI-assisted IaC development, AIOps telemetry analysis, and automated troubleshooting) to increase engineering velocity and team productivity.
• Utilize infrastructure-as-code to automate and ensure consistency, efficiency, and security throughout the environment.
• Work closely with and support the DevOps teams to build and maintain their systems, including deployments, administration and patching.
• Provide technical support and guidance to teammates & cloud engineers.
• Additional responsibilities and projects as assigned by management.

What We Need From You:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field
• 5+ years of experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS)
• Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and support to cloud engineers.
• Extensive experience implementing, maintaining and securing Linux based systems (Ubuntu and RHEL preferred).
• Extensive experience using Terraform and Ansible.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (Preferred):

• AWS Certified Solutions Architect or AWS Certified DevOps Engineer
• Hands‑on experience with PCI‑DSS compliant infrastructure and security controls.
• Experience with multi-cloud deployments (Google Cloud Platform).
• Scripting/Programming proficiency in Python, Bash, or Perl.
• Experience with Jira, Confluence, Subversion, and Git

Salary Range:

$104,500-$149,500, 5% annual bonus
