Job summary

Castelion is seeking an Avionics Test Software Engineer in Torrance to lead architecture of test frameworks and automate hardware testing. You will build reusable software components, define standards, and collaborate with avionics and Flight Software teams to translate requirements into scalable test solutions.

You will also mentor engineers, drive CI/CD and automated testing practices, and ensure robust fault handling and data acquisition interfaces across test systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related technical field with 7+ years or 10+ years in software development/test automation/avionics.
• Experience developing software for automated hardware testing and lab systems.
• Experience designing software architectures, frameworks, APIs, or reusable platforms.
• Proficiency in Python or another modern language.
• Experience with version control, code review, automated testing, and CI/CD.
• Experience interfacing software with hardware, instrumentation, or external systems.

Responsibilities

• Own avionics test software framework architecture and interfaces.
• Develop reusable test software frameworks, drivers, and services.
• Define software architecture standards and development practices.
• Create software interfaces to avionics hardware, data acquisition, and test equipment.
• Collaborate with avionics and Flight Software engineers to translate requirements into test architectures.
• Lead test automation infrastructure for hardware bring-up and production testing.
• Mentor test software engineers and drive best practices.
• Troubleshoot complex software/hardware issues and perform root-cause analysis.
• Develop tools to improve test visibility and automate analysis.
