Job summary

Inversion is seeking a Senior Avionics Test Engineer in Los Angeles to own electrical validation, functional testing, and environmental verification of the Arc avionics suite. You will build bench HIL setups, configure complex environments, and drive validation from design to flight readiness with high autonomy.

The role requires 5+ years in high-reliability avionics testing, strong Python automation skills, and expertise in test hardware interfaces.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• 5+ years of hands-on experience testing high-reliability avionics or embedded systems.
• Strong proficiency in Python for test automation and data analysis.
• Experience configuring automated test environments (HIL) and telemetry systems.
• Deep understanding of analog/digital signal paths and serial protocols.

Responsibilities

• Own the design, build, and execution of HIL testbeds and bench-level automated test setups for the Arc vehicle.
• Develop and release vehicle-level avionics test plans, procedures, and scripts for power, computers, and RF subsystems.
• Design and manufacture Ground Support Equipment (GSE) and custom test cables for vehicle checkout.
• Perform system-level electrical integration testing and signal/bus health analysis (CAN, Ethernet, Serial, SPI, I2C).
• Analyze telemetry and sensor data during simulated flight profiles to verify hardware performance.
• Lead investigations into electrical failures and telemetry drops discovered during tests.
• Define environmental test plans (thermal vacuum, vibration, EMI/EMC) for avionics hardware.
• Mentor junior engineers and promote data-driven testing architectures.
